"Shrimp Boats are a coming", as the old song says! Not the most avant garde subject in the world of art, but here it is. 3 Amigos is an oil on canvas painting completed a few months ago. A good friend gave me the opportunity to look at some recent photos he took at a shrimpboat dock to the north of St Augustine. I wasn't all that interested until I saw this one. I drew it out and made a few changes along the way and here's what I got. It was a kind of sunset scene which I enhanced by making sure all the boat hulls were black to go along with the dark water. This will eventually end up being submitted to the American Society of Marine Artists.

Vaughn Cochran

Regarded as one of the best and more innovative artists in the world of

where Vaughn was a fly-fishing guide for many years. “In my travels, I always
had my camera and sketch book”, says Vaughn “I’ve filled several journals with
ideas and notes for paintings and sculptures that revolve around fish and life
on the water.”
