
Some artists are stuck into a style and rarely venture outside of that style in order to maintain sales. If the painting doesn’t look like what you normally do or what you’re famous for the public won’t buy it. You’ve heard that saying “It’s better to have loved and lost rather than to have never loved at all”…… That’s the chance I took in doing these paintings. Teddy Roosevelt said it in a different way, “If he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat”. Did I win on these colorful chances, or loose? The answer will be up to you, the collector. Personally I like them!
I have been wanting to find a way to expand the black fly series that I’ve been painting for years and never really found a way to get there.I’ve painted these paintings for years in my head but never put the brush to the canvas. For some unknown reason it came to me and I found myself picking up the brush, not really knowing what would happen or what the results would be.As I surveyed the completed paintings I noticed that I had painted all the eyes red, henceforth the name Red Eye Series.
