As an artist it’s always a challenge to start a new painting. Marker 38 on the North Florida Intracoastal waterway is only the third local marsh painting that I’ve ever done. I’ve fished this area for longer than I want to say and I never thought about painting that location until I saw it one afternoon with a full moon low tide that gave the little access creek some dimension. The sun was partially out so there was some light and color in the gone to seed spartina grass and on the oyster beds with the mud flat in the foreground. This is one of the few scenes that I used acrylic paints instead of oils.
