Painted in 2009, Vaughn produced the first poster in a series that will eventually encompass elements of the revolutionary propaganda posters from the 1940’s and 50’s. Vaughn’s unique perspective of fly fishing art is always at the forefront of contemporary art and his fellow marine artists. The original painting is an acrylic on canvas in a vertical format. I had an old photo of Fidal holding a machete so I photoshoped my hand holding a flyrod onto Fidal’s and traced it in. I had to add the then president Obama’s name into the design knowing that at some point in the future this poster would become more of a collectors item just because of his name.”Let our people go” has that religious connotation but also refers to allowing American tourist to visit Cuba to go fishing.
Vaughn considers himself a contemporary painter whose subject matter just happens to be fishing.
The poster size is 22″ x 28″ and is a standard poster frame size which can be purchased anywhere that frames or posters are sold.
Posters are in stock and ready to ship.
